Vinyl chloride, hydrochloric acid, and dioxins - self-care ideas, a summary post.
That last post got long and left my brain needing a nap, a really long nap, so by follow-up request - the self-care section re Ohio train derailment potential health risks.
As a lead-in - hyperinflammation is destructive in similar ways and can be combatted in similar ways internally for whatever reason the inflammation is being caused. Finding out the reason for inflammation and avoiding it is also a need - but that is a separate question in many ways then what to do about an inflamed and in pain body. We all have toxins from modern chemicals coming into us from food, water, air, and medicines and other products we are exposed to. Defending on a daily basis is a good strategy for anyone on modern Earth. The air spreads toxins unfairly - more evaporate at the hot Equator and condense and drop on cold climates nearer the Northa nd South Poles.
Follow-up to the last post: Vinyl chloride risks and detox possibilities. (substack.com) It has the science “Why?” reasons for some of the following recommendations that I am making. This post is focused primarily on possible self-care strategies.
Addition - Tucker Carlson interviewing a resident couple, the husband is experiencing symptoms similar to vinyl chloridevor hydrochloric acid toxicity - skin rash and irritated throat after returning when told it was “safe” by authorities to do so. The couple recently bought a home with land in the close-knit community of East Palestine, Ohio. https://t.me/deNutrientsChat/33020
The unspoken tragedy here is how and when is a region declared an EPA hazardous site? We don’t know and questions aren't being pursued yet. Independent testing or collection of samples of air and water would be a good idea for a citizen protection group.
Additional resource about dioxin and Agent Orange poisoning recommends a cruciferous vegetable phytonutrient, indole-3-carbinol, which is available as a supplement.https://ted.earthclinic.com/cures/agent-orange-exposure2.html
Additional point - cruciferous veg and all Nrf2 promoters are included in “mitochondrial support” as the Nrf2 promotes glutathione production and also DNA damage repair so it should be in two ofvthe gosls.
Dioxins
Dioxins were not included in the last post - it was mentioned as a Bigger Error-Part Two, in a reply, thanks. The hydrochloric acid in the air can turn into dioxins which last a long time and are bad for eggshells. Dioxins collect in fatty fish and can be in drinking water. This fact page mentions health risks but has no health guidance besides avoiding potential sources of dioxins. (epa.gov/dioxin/learn-about-dioxin)
“Dioxins are highly toxic and can cause cancer, reproductive and developmental problems, damage to the immune system, and can interfere with hormones.” (epa.gov/dioxin/learn-about-dioxin)
Dioxins effect wild-life and bird egg shells. Free-range chicken eggs from contaminated areas may become a dioxin hazard from pecking at contaminated soil and insects and plants in the area. (Schoeters, Hoogenboom, 2006)
Levels of PCBs in wild bird eggs: Considering toxicity through enzyme induction potential and molecular structure - ScienceDirect
With contaminated air and water - leaving the area is the way to avoid the toxin. Negative ionizers can help with volatile chemicals in the air - then sweep and mop more often. I would recommend using gloves and eye shielding goggles for clean-up if in near vicinity as these chloride chemicals can be a skin irritant.
Replies about dioxins and other toxins that will be created from the hydrogen chloride gas:
I didn't notice any reference to burning vinyl chloride producing dioxins, but that's an even bigger deal than the immediate poisoning effects or HCl production.
Just a Clinician, 4 hr ago The burning resulted in phosgene gas as well as hydrogen chloride. It was probably the phosgene that killed the chickens and other small animals. https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/phosgene#section=Mechanism-of-Action
Other chemicals released (in addition to the vinyl chloride) were: butyl acrylate, ethylhexyl acrylate, and ethylene glycol monobutyl.

Self-care strategies for Vinyl chloride/hydrochloric acid/dioxin exposure - based on what I could find and/or surmise.
I am not finding much on health prevention strategies for Vinyl chloride, hydrochloric acid or dioxins. I have put together some self-care ideas based on the symptoms that have been observed. It seems to be a TRP like problem that leads to membrane breakdown and increased cancer risk, along with nervous system effects that might impact children.
The Basic Stack and Extended Stack would be helpful for anyone against hyperinflammatory conditions and is on the Prenatal/Child page, (jenniferdepew.com), *it is longer than the original post and includes food sources for all the B’s.
Risks - mitochondrial oxidative stress leading to cell apoptosis/death, membrane disruption, and liver cancer followed by other cancer risks (breast and brain were mentioned), and developmental risks.
Symptoms - roughly: eye, respiratory, and skin irritation - possibly like a TRP activator causing a caustic burn like effect.
Therapy goals -
Antioxidant and other Mitochondrial support nutrients. (Allawzi, et al., 2018) Goal: Protect against mitochondrial dysfunction which can lead to DNA damage and cell death by apoptosis. See Mitochondrial graphic below.
Reduce oxidative stress from other sources too (EMF, worrying too much, inflammatory junk foods, excess alcohol, smoking, or other habits, more bioweapon jabs or passive exposure relapses, goals.
Nrf2 promoters such as indole-3-carbinol and pomegranate peel which helps by promoting Nrf2 and inhibiting inflammatory NFkB, and the Nrf2 promotes glutathione production and DNA damage repair.
Goal: DNA damage prevention, nerve support, and detox and mitochondrial support: methyl-folate (B9) and methyl- or hydroxy-cobalamin (B12). Methyl folate helps mitochondria and protects against DNA damage that can be pre-cancerous. Food sources and the difference from folic acid are discussed in the following article and on my Prenatal/Child page, (jenniferdepew.com). Excess folic acid can be cancer promoting - helping cancer cells while not providing the bioactive methyl group of folate.
5 Impressive Benefits of Methyl-folate, Vitamin B9, AKESO (migrelief.com)
Nrf2 promoters.
Goal: Prevent chloride uptake in place of iodine in thyroid hormone or other critical places and promote urinary excretion of chloride, bromide and fluoride. (Dr. Brownstein’s work) Take Iodine or standardized kelp/seaweed supplements, and selenium, or increase food sources. Seaweed, seafood, rhubarb, ginger, coconut - are iodine sources, and 1-2 Brazil nuts per day for selenium.
Goal: Inhibit TRP overactivation. Magnesium can help inhibit TRP channels that increase calcium that help activate Chloride channels. TRP or chloride channels when activated can cause an itchy or pain-like sensation depending on how activated they are or how many have been triggered. Magnesium topically, Epsom salt, can be soothing in a bath when inner ear and nose tissue is sensitive or damaged with non-healing micro wounds or there is scalp eczema or enflamed sebaceous glands (*seems to be a symptom of cannabinoid deficiency). Avoid the magnesium chloride topical products in this case, “Magnesium Oil” or liquid or spray, as we already are dealing with excess chloride.
To have optimal Magnesium needs Protein and Phospholipids too (substack.com)
Goal: Membrane and phospholipid support. Extra phospholipids and omega 3 EPA/DHA may help support membranes along with Vitamin C and glycine. Organic bone broth type collagen support might help - avoid glyphosate commercial products though.
Phospholipid or phosphorylation deficiency, potential symptoms (substack.com) This post has a list of phospholipid rich foods which includes egg yolk - also found to be protective against chimeric spike.
Related and also has a food list: Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency, (CED), and phospholipids. (substack.com)
Goal: Repair and protect the skin.
Topically - aloe vera gel is healing and soothing, follow with a carrier oil with a few drops of essential oils. Caution against overuse or undiluted use as essential oils, most, are too strong and can also cause a burning like sensation and leave a caustic burn on the skin. Glycerin can be used to mix aloe gel with an essential oil blend, but then I found it kind of a stickier feel on the skin than using first aloe vera gel, then the massage oil blend. And you still have to shake the glycerin mix to re-emulsify before using the creamier mixture.
*Note that I am fairly new at topicals and don’t know how to make lotions. I have stayed in the food area of the kitchen. I got started with a video series on esential oils by Dr. Eric Z - chiropractor and natural health care practitioner with a focus on essential oils, and Mama Z - used essential oils and aloe vera from teen years and it helped heal a bad facial reaction to something that left scarring. She is the specialist on household and food uses of essential oils. (naturallivingfamily.com/about) < has a free ebook pop-up on essential oils.
Some essential oils are edible but many or most are not and are only for aromatic use or possibly the diluted topical use. They are potent and should be treated with caution.
Treat a burn like irritation as if it is burned tissue - as it is very similar.
Cool compresses are soothing for burn-like conditions that have ongoing nerve pain. Rewet the cool compress as needed. Ice would be too cold and add to stimulation of pain/temperature nerves. The same nerves signal different sensations depending on how many are activated. Tickling feels good until it goes on too long and then it can eventually feel like torture.
» 6-10 drops per 1-2 ounces of grapeseed or almond oil « I use the grapeseed oil that you get in a grocery store sometimes.
Black seed oil in the mix or straight is also healing and soothing to irritated skin - but not for undiluted use near the eye area.
Coconut oil is very soothing and healing to inner ear and nasal tissue and good for the scalp and hair (but would be greasy if much is used).
The essential oil Frankincense and others are healing for skin but need to be diluted. Tea Tree Oil can be used undiluted and stings a bit then numbs. In mixtures it helps other ingredients to also penetrate the skin better.
Tea tree oil, peppermint, chamomile, and lavender essential oils in a carrier oil are suggested for skin irritation or bug bites in this article. Essential Oils for Skin Irritation, Allergies & Itchy Skin | Flacheya. Tea tree oil is one of the few essential oils that can be used directly on skin and is an antiseptic. It numbs minor cuts after an initial burning sensation and seems to reduce bleeding faster than without.

Goal - GABA modulation may be important for children exposed to chlorine contaminants. The cooking herb Thyme may help.
Other effects that may occur from too much chloride channel activation include an imbalance in GABA and possibly excess glutamate. The cooking herb thyme is a GABA modulator. (Priestley, et al., 2003) It is good in soup or rice and makes a flavorful long steeped tea. I use it in my pomegranate peel mix - a generous teaspoon of thyme in a quart pot of tea, or two quarts/two pots. Thyme includes modulators of GABA.
GABA normally has calming effects but in children may also have developmental or other impacts. (Herlenius, Lagercrantz, 2001)
“Some neurotransmitters change their effect during embryogenesis, e.g. GABA which is excitatory in the embryo, but inhibitory after birth due to a switch from a high to low chloride content in the nerve cells. It is possible that this is of importance for the wiring of neuronal network in early life.” (Herlenius, Lagercrantz, 2001)
Magnesium is likely critical for keeping other TRP channels closed as increased intracellular calcium levels help activate (some types of/all?) chloride channels.
It may also help to aoid glutamate and Aspartame as excitatory food ingredients or components (cheese and tomato products, soy sauce and other fermented seasonings and MSG and many savory flavoring ingredients).
Regarding the cancer risk - protect the liver and that helps protect everything else.
Liver support is critical when trying to remove toxins and protect against organ damage too. Milk Thistle is a widely used and available herbal supplement for liver support.
Avoiding fructose in quantity is helpful for liver health. Avoiding alcohol is too. Avoiding any overload of drugs/painkillers or other toxins would be protective for the liver. Avoiding over-eating and calorie excess is also protective, as the liver has to cope with excess carbohydrates or fats.
Regarding overeating
This post got little attention and editing it may help that - or more emphasis. It doesn’t matter how healthy a food might be - if you overeat - your body is going to be in an inflammatory state while coping with the excess calories of whatever type. Oxidative stress itself may be causal in insulin resistance - as a self-defense mechanism during overfeeding. (substack.com)
My personal foibles have given me many lessons of how inflammatory overeating can be, no matter how ‘healthy’ the food. Yes, binging on M & M’s is worse (migraine risk for me), by binging on raisins and pistachios or gluten free baked goods, or bean soup, is also too much and leaves me feeling worse the next day or two. The likelihood that I would binge on bean soup is lower though ;-) Acceptance of differences means seeing that you have an issue that “will power” cannot change. Strategies like always having bean soup or other non-bingy foods on hand can help as I don’t usually overeat soup or salad. I am more likely to overeat when already hungry - and that is what recognition can help. See where your personal pitfalls are and learn how to bypass the as often as possible - because acceptance is accepting that your innate tendency is to do whatever.. overeating in this case. It is a genetic issue associated with imbalanced or deficient endocannabinoids.

Those foods are all Nrf2 promoting and beneficial in other ways. Hot pepper is a TRP channel activator and people with Irritable Bowel type problems may need to avoid it.
Thanks and good luck with your book Gavin!
Additionally, melatonin is a mitochondrial support nutrient which is recommended for chemical detoxification in a military guide.
“This review combines scientific evidence in support of the possible application of melatonin in combat and post-combat situations in order to improve individual resilience.
In particular, this review aims to examine the following possible applications of melatonin to support military personnel:
• As a protection from chemical and radioactive weapons;
• For the oscillatory synchronization of the neuro–cardio–respiratory systems;
• To support septic patients;
• To support critically traumatized patients.”

"The dioxin can be detoxified with a supplement of indole 3 carbinol, which is found in fresh broccoli and a smaller amount still in fresh cabbages. Of course if you want a large amount still, then you can buy supplements which is already available over the internet quite easily."
