thanks, very interesting. Had a thought reading the first paper linked that it would be nice if researchers included some measure of discounting retinoid toxicity in the process of study design or implementation. Can't recall if I posted this one before but I think it's pretty significant given the plethora of relationships being considered in most papers, not to mention the stress levels people have been subject to since this covid thing erupted.
I found and bought a thorough review article on fibromyalgia and am still reading it. I think this is connected. I was amazed really, at how sick I felt, simply from eating part of a peach. Weird, really, it is. The retinoid system is involved but there is little research per the review team. What I have observed in my initial digging for more is that the current trend is to look at the role of Retinoic Acid and vitamin A in all of these various issues as being a lack and a need for more. The schizophrenia research does make it clear that lack of A or excess Retinoic Acid can cause similar symptoms of schizophrenia. The complexity may be because there are two cohorts. Some with excess activation of Retinoic acid and some with deficits for some reason.
Taurine and Astrocytes: A Homeostatic and Neuroprotective Relationship

Many of those who write about their experience with excess-A are big on Taurine for its role in the formation of bile-acid. One of the many Taurine positives is surely its role in retinoid-elimination which is likely significant for the central nervous system and brain
*Thyroretin TRR is the perfect addition to what I was just reading - there is an astronaut and radiation link to all this. Astronauts get Chronic Fatigue like symptoms - which would be due to radiation - if admitted - which reduces TRR levels. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-26762-1 I looked into it a little. They work on shielding the vehicle to block radiation but don't really give the astronauts a functional nutritionist's level of extra nutrient support to defend from within. Without TRR there would be a sudden drop in thyroid hormone and drop in energy level - hypothyroid fatigue. And it causes other inflammatory problems too.

Thought you'd find something worthwhile in this paper published in Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience.

Thanks! I do have some taurine, but didn't know the particulars why it is supposed to be helpful for the brain. Hard to read everything.
