Your work is a light in these dark times.

The things you do are what I feel we should be doing.

The government... they do what they do, as much as a wolf does what it does. One can ask mercy from a wolf, but expecting it... is a different story.

Thanks too. I have been down some too in mood and "light" - wondering what it is if not my work thst I work so hard on. This health VAIDS/spikeAIDS is hard. I work harder physically or stay up late and am wiped out more for a few days. The moderate pace is a real important thing. And dandelion/pom tea.

Governments have handled this differently from each other, a few holdouts and murdered/suddenly dead presidents. This is really not normal government. I do expect not-covert killing of the people and poisoning of the land and air. I do expect and try to provide helpful public health education. <stepping off soapbox>

Picked up a couple of pomegranates because of your recommendations. Thank you. Also picked up another thyme plant and the basil is going strong here.

Very welcome!

Holy basil is a specific species. I picked up some dried at an India grocery market. The regular kind probably is beneficial too. I am not sure of the difference.

Any thoughts on whether or not freezing peels lessens their potencies? *side question - drying better or worse?

Been freezing pomegranate, orange and pomelo peels to add to tea (or stews for the white parts of the peels).

Same questions regarding dandelion and other leafy/stem or root based plants etc.

Thanks!

Drying the dandelion makes it more potent - I saw research about that. I don't know about the others. I use pom or citrus peel fresh, frozen or dried. All seem equally potent as long as it doesn't get oxidized or over heated. I just boiled a batch of tea - forgot it on the stove. I drank some, seems reasonable, but not ideal.

I guess one great way to extract the substances from lemon peel is to let it sit in 90% alcohol and then dilute with some sugar syrup- that’s the traditional way of making the Italian liqueur Limoncello. Just take care not to consume too much sugar.

Another traditional liqueur that is included in the detox protocols is made from unripe nuts, and is really delicious.

As fennel seeds are beneficial, so surely must be anise too. French drink called Ricard is based on anise liqueur diluted with water. Again watch out for excessive sugar.

I am thinking of taking some rosemary and let it sit in alcohol for some week.

Thyme tea is delicious too, but I never thought of macerating the plant in alcohol, I wonder what would be the taste like.

Basil pesto pasta shows to be a cure too, as the plant is not cooked, just mixed with the rest of the ingredients.

Thanks for the great tips!

I found a video on how to boil pineapple skin to obtain a healthy drink, have to try it:

In my enthusiasm for natural remedies I tried to eat a piece of aloe vera leaf without checking about it first, and I learnt the hard way that you have to wash away the juice to avoid laxative effect 🤣

Survived with green tea, the cramps passed away quickly, but I will remember the lesson 😅

I am drying pomegranate and mango peels now, can’t wait to try them in a tea! Thanks for the great ideas 😃👍👍👍

Comfrey is a great plant too, I digged the roots from the woods and planted them in a box full of earth. It survived since three years on my balcony, if it dries out in the summer, the leaves die and grow back again as soon as the plant gets some water. The leaves can be immersed in a thin dough of flour and milk - like for making pancakes, and fried in oil. They are delicious 😋 and the roots marinated in vodka is a great remedy for pulmonary troubles.

That sounds good. I could probably grow comfrey where I am.

Thanks and enjoy the tea. The mango adds mango yummiest while the pomegranate is mainly tart.

Thank you! I have been freezing herbs forever, so I always thought it seemed acceptable.

My freezer looks like it is full of compostable waste. (I just keep it all in stackable jars.)

That would take up a lot of space. I have grocery sacks of dried sassafras leaves. It takes quite a bit to make a tablespoon of Gumbo file.
