Dementia risk linked to increased loss of bone density (hip) in elders.
This is an example of a correlation with a shared causal factors - lack of magnesium and low vitamin D and K2.
A news article shares a research study that found a correlation between decreased bone density and an almost doubled risk for dementia.
Weaker Bones, Weakening Brain? Study Makes the Connection., by Amy Norton, March 23, 2023, healthday.com.
The low bone mass does not cause dementia, there was a comorbidity pattern.
The news story suggests this means doctors should pay more attention to bone mass as soon as dementia is diagnosed but that is putting the cart before the donkey. The decrease on bone mass precedes the worsening cognitive symptoms. People being screened for early loss of bone density are the ones to counsel about reducing hyperinflammation and paying more attention to magnesium and mitochondrial support nutrients. Vitamin K2, D3, avoid glyphosate, and have adequate protein in the overall diet are also important strategies to prevent dementia.
By the time obvious symptoms of Alzheimer’s are present, there likely had been 20 years of chronic inflammation— which depletes bone density and increases hippocampus damage.

I smh, shake my head, too often lately.
Here is another story more on track. Could More Magnesium Boost Our Brain Health?, original source Australian National University, March 24, 2023, (technologynetworks.com). People getting 550 mg magnesium or more per day had lower dementia risk than those getting ~350 mg day within their average daily food intake (or supplements, I am not sure of the details).
Eat more greens and beans for brain health, both are good sources of magnesium, also nuts and seeds. Whole grains are less so because the magnesium may be less bioavailable due to fiber content. https://www.technologynetworks.com/neuroscience/news/could-more-magnesium-boost-our-brain-health-371453
I, for example, have already had early bone density loss in some area of the bone scan. That was ten or more years ago and my mental symptoms did get much worse before I figured out the histamine excess and Retinoid Toxicity causal factors. My gene differences may make me more at risk for both bone loss and cognitive decline. Prevention needs to take place for twenty years or more if deterioration is also taking twenty years to occur before obvious symptoms.
How long do you want good cognitive skills? Until age 45 when early onset Alzheimer’s is diagnosed? Age 65 when it more typically might be diagnosed? Or never as used to be more standard for our Senior Citizens?
My grandma was active and aware until age 103/104. She was a farmwife who had been a bit of a Flapper and independent young woman of the 1920s with a seamstress job at a dress factory. She kept busy and socially active all her life. Aside/ Her wages were not much different than what Bangladeshi garment workers are paid currently. (Old post series: Garment Workers, Bangladesh - by Jenny (substack.com))
Good sleep habits, and light/dark habits are also Critically Important for Brain Health. Our brain activity slows and our body cools at night. More cleanup is done during normal healthy sleep. The brain is about 25% smaller in size during sleep and tge glympharic fluid has more ability to glow well and remove toxins and bring in nutrients.
People change. Friends or spouses may no longer be as good a fit for each other. Society has really emphasized a need to avoid “toxic” people when a more tolerant way to look at it would be to see that it isn’t a good fit. No longer vibing on the same things. Emotional pain is unhealthy while social connection is healthy. We need each other, but maybe we need different people at different phases of life.
Or more me time - who is me anyway?
I have been napping a little extra as my day/night is a little biphasic again, up too early in the morning because I went to sleep to early the night before leads to a cranky afternoon. A question about naps versus stimulants led to a discussion of iron chelators too, in case the tiredness is related to chronic inflammation, correcting that with vitamin C and iron chelators might be what is needed more than a stimulant and in addition to the nap. I take a Sweet Wormwood extract lately when feeling like my autoimmune symptoms have flared up.
I give my mom fingernail soaks, like spa day, with Epsom salt, and it really helped today when her afternoon turned panicky. I also give pomegranate juice with some CBD drops twice a day. Psychiatric medications do not provide magnesium, polyphenols, or cannabinoids and tend to promote neuroinflammation rather than reduce it. Buyer be wary and consumers in general be aware that unprotected Foster children and nursing home residents are being over-medicated with drugs that can increase mental and physical illness.
Regarding a recent post - Protocols; and Silencing Women? - by Jennifer Depew, R.D. (substack.com) - in writing about my ‘fear’ of having a mood meltdown in public, because it might be taken as a racist ‘Karen’ episode instead of mental health breakdown - my intent was to highlight that anxiety can be genetically more of a risk for some groups than others.
Anxiety doesn’t have to do with anyone else, when the person’s head is roiling with imbalanced neurotransmitters and too little calming magnesium or dimethylglycine, inositol, other nutrients. However there is a tendency within the anxiety to also be paranoid - seek a source to blame for the discomfort. It takes growth and self recognition that the problem is inside the brain to try to tone down that tendency to blame others - and then it is still difficult.
The political agenda is also promoting division. Mainstream media is printing divisive, race baiting, articles. In trying to talk about these issues, I am not declaring that ‘Yes, I am a racist, because so-and-so labeled me as such.’ I am saying society needs to SEE that we all are being manipulated. More people are seeing that now and there is proactive black man Tweeting about it along with affirmative support for all races to value themselves too.
Slavery was a while ago. Human trafficking of children and adults is a multi-billion dollar current industry and it is basically slavery but covert slavery rather than an open market slave trade as occurred in the US in the past. It also values the trafficked people less. Slaves were property to keep healthy. Trafficked children tend to be dead by age seven - and gruesome deaths. Trafficked adults may also have more injuries. Poultry processing is difficult, icky, and dangerous, and an industry that has been known to use trafficked workers who are kept confined basically - kept isolated and secret from a surrounding community. The US guest worker program is glorified human trafficking and the victims often pay to do it at places that lie about the job providing a real VISA that will allow the person to send for their whole family later on.
We got problems, and they aren’t all about skin color. Many are about an international blackmail network that traffics children and adults for sex, blood, organ robbery, and for labor.
Addition- omega 3 fatty acids and B vitamins in combination have also been found helpful. https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/health/1751037/dementia-vitamin-b-test-david-smith

That’s was so interesting. Thanks for the info!
Wormwood tea? Artemisia?
How long to soak and amount? It’s anti inflammatory?
