Veggie Nori Rolls, How-To's for Health: a new section, and Iris anticipation - pics
And what's up next? More buckthorn probably and Ground ivy recipes.
I have created a new section but have been so busy on projects and cooking, etc., that I have only moved a few protocol posts to it. Subscribe if interested. I didn't want to automatically subscribe everyone if I post a bunch of short things in a row. Too many emails maybe. But I have been busy, no emails 🤔😬
Iris anticipation - delighted.
Yellow, burgundy with gold, and a peachy purple in the front yard also bloomed.
Veggies Nori Rolls - How To pics
2 sheets of Nori, about 2/3rds of a cup of Jasmine rice cooked, most of 2 radishes, half a cucumber and half an avocado prepped for garnish, a little apple cider vinegar, sea salt. * it was not a very nice avocado.
Made two rolls, each make about 10 pieces.
I add rosemary to my rice in the rice cooker - the brown flecks in the rice below:
Rolling it takes a little finesse and the plastic wrap or bamboo mat can help with rolling it. The technique is similar to rolling a tube of cinnamon rolls or a jelly roll cake. Cut it carefully after chilling several hours or overnight to show the spiral.
Wait several hours - saw gently while holding the sides together for support.
The advantage to knowing how to make specialty foods is saving money, increasing availability if not in an urban area, and maybe gaining more appreciation for the prepared food. Someone put in some work to make Nori rolls. It costs a little over 7 dollars for deli veggie Nori Rolls or a little over 7 dollars for a pack of 40 sheets of Nori seaweed. The pickled ginger is extra and is good chopped up in a salad too.
Work in progress is a Retinoid Toxicity page, for here and to copy to my jenniferdepew.com site, and I am still chopping and bagging buckthorn, so more How-To pics on the way. Or in a document as buckthorn is troubling more areas and people want and/or need to control it. It chokes out waterways and encroaches on farmland or yards. Stumps may sprout a few sprouts . . . buckthorn stumps, or a broken tree will sprout more like 10,000 (it seems). The pic below is not of a small bush. It is a glossy buckthorn stump I cut a year or two ago before I learned of the bag method to kill the roots and stump. It takes a year.
Planning ahead for next spring!
Other plants and trees get more water and nutrients.

Lovely Irises!
question - just in case you have a fast answer at the top of your head - about those dark sometimes almost black marks that old people get every time we bump into something? I am not taking blood thinners but take Omega-3 capsules, since they seem to help with ADHD - I wonder if cutting them out would be helpful. my arms are looking really ugly since I can't seem to resist activities that bump me around a lot!
