Did they do something wrong in a past life or is this some sort of lesson?

If that's too much to ask, could you please get all the global leaders to detonate all the nuclear weapons of Mass de Scripture all at one please... You know... show a bit of pity, empathy and all that stuff you reckons good. We're just not a very good creature.... Sorry to disappoint.😢
I don't think there's a better medicine than Nature right now to help us cope with the likes of which you speak of in your post. Knowing that these things are happening to children can make us plummet into despair and feel helpless. It's the worst of humanity.
