The creator of "Holistic" medicine, a video; and an ER bill.
Brief post. Slightly cranky. š
Video interview with Dr. Gladys McGarey, a pioneer in the field of holistic medicine. She was even involved in creating the term āholisticā healthcare and how to spell it.
She wants us to know or remember that our bodies can heal from within. Your doctor doesn't ācureā you. You heal from within and your doctor may be helping your body up do that, but the doctor may also be getting things wrong and instead of helping, their treatment may be preventing your body from being able to heal from within.

The modern diagnostic process over focuses on lab tests and other invasive tests rather than looking at visible symptoms of illness and taking a thorough patient history. It has been said that 80% of z diagnosis is based on lab tests. Too much testing is a problem that can lead to wrong diagnoses and wrong treatment, or may just lead to unwanted bills and loss of time spent on the testing. That loss of time can add up to worsening of an underlying cause that was missed during the focus on ruling out a zillion other things.

ā¦is why I donāt want to go for an MRI to help āvisualizeā my liver.
Financial waste and fraud is bad, um kay. - Paraphrase of the South Park guidance counselor.
The CT scan visualization was really quite wrong and yet if I hadnāt been so insistent that I didnāt have a āperforated bowelā and therefore didnāt need exploratory surgery just to see if I needed emergency surgeryā¦ then I might have been cut open, charged a lot more money, and would have been hospitalized and would have had to heal and resist nosocomial infections (any bug you catch while at the hospital is called a nosocomial infection instead of calling it a toxic hospital environment infection or some other more descriptive phrase.)
Words do matter.
My CT scan imaginary perforated bowel emergency cost the government insurance $10,904.08, and will cost me $120. I am really glad that I am not being asked to pay 20% of the medical waste and fraud expenditure. I don't have that much money, I spent it on books š that have helped my health a lot more. *And I just realized that there may also be a fee for the first CT scan.
I am feeling much better due to my own interpretation of my lab tests and the changes that I have made in my diet and OTC meds and supplements. If I was following doctor guidance, I wouldn't have made any changes yet and I would still be waiting on an imaginary cancer diagnosis.
Avoiding the for-profit illness industry seems like the more efficient route towards health to me. They are the gatekeepers for insurance funded lab tests though and labs can provide insight into underlying cause/s. Maybe I have liver cancer too but I think my many decades history of autoimmune issues is more realistic.
It is important to remember as a patient that the for-profit medical system loves diagnosing problems that have expensive treatments and they will spend a lot of time ruling out all of those possibilities before eventually saying, āā¦ it seems to be autoimmune, so we can't really help you except with immune suppressing corticosteroidsā . . . and they may or may not mention that giving corticosteroids daily generally leads to a total health collapse within about two years of daily steroid use.
Buyer be aware that the for-profit medical system is very effective at killing patients in a variety of slow or quick ways that also generally includes charging big bills.

??If it ain't "Broke", don't FIX IT.??
In my opinion, Modern Medicine is the ultimate 'Cop-out' and denial of Reality.
Yes! Medicine can do wonderful things (In the right hands). But, it usually does nothing to treat the underlying causes?
