Pomegranate paper relaunch; Mannose; Herbs for Vitality free webinar.
Mannose as an anti-cancer carbohydrate - seems plausible - research based; & Herbs for Vitality free webinar by The Herbal Academy.
My pomegranate paper is quite awesome. The funny thing is it had become a bit of a dread in the back of my mind - an unfinished project that I still cared about - but dusty, unlooked at for a while. Except that I did look at the Tables, as a handy reference, it is one. When I got back to it I was pleasantly surprised, I had gotten more completed on the finishing details than my dread had remembered. I have added what I hope is a clickable Table of Contents as it became a book length document, 79,000 words.
The goal was 12,000 word article, so anything extra got put in a Table, I have a dozen or more. There is a lengthy Table of Health Benefits and one on Phytonutrient content of pomegranate which list many research studies with a brief blurb about the study’s findings. Those are handy as a quick reference guide. What was I trying to remember? Oh, there it is.
Pomegranate peel is consistently safe and effective, no joke, no fraud. Revered by ancient kings because it simply is that great for our overall health and mental clarity.

Mannose - found in cranberries and other produce in small amounts.
Mannose does seem to be helpful against cancer because it is providing nutrients to the person but it starves the cancer cells which need glucose and anaerobic glycolysis for energy. (Luo, et al., 2022) Link via Nattering Naybob.
We likely get a little mannose from a variety of foods. Cranberries are best known for mannose as it has been linked to prevention of UTI bladder infections.
“Mannose can be found in fruits (peaches, apples, oranges, blueberries, black currants, cranberries), legumes (green beans, kidney beans, lima beans, soybeans), vegetables (cabbage, turnip, tomatoes), ivory nuts, Aloe vera and baker’s yeast [2,3,10,11,12]. The amount of mannose that can be absorbed from these foods in not known [3,4].” (nutrientsreview.com)
Aloe vera has wound healing benefits when used topically and the mannose content may aid in that function. (Davis, et al., 1994)
Ketone diets try to starve the cancer from carbohydrates too, but too high fat of a diet would be shifting methylation cycles to the anaerobic pathways too. A moderate carbohydrate diet with 50% or less of calories from fat and no more than 10% of those from saturated fat should help keep methylation cycles chugging along aerobically as long as the many nutrients and cofactors were available.
Herbs for Vitality - free webinar series, temporary availability.
Really great Herbal webinar on herbs for stress individualized to whether symptoms are more anxious or angry or grieving and other variations. Part one of three parts by different educators, limited time free viewing. Herbs for Vitality Free Series by the Herbal Academy, (theherbalacademy.com/hfv-pt1/). Part one focuses on the stress response and the educator, Lindsey Feldpaush, RH (AHG), is so peaceful. It feels healing just to listen to her.
Oat milky seed is an early stage of oats growing season. The oat seeds are milky when small and the entire greenish top.is used in herbal preparations. It and Blue vervain may be helpful when feeling overwhelmed is dominating. Variations in feelings can indicate more specifically which herb may suit a particular need best.
Skullcap fresh is preferred for making a tincture but dried works too.
Hawthorn is nutritive, rose as in powdered rose hips and tulsi is a basil - herbs that may help during grieving.
Passionflower, hops and lavender are in a tea blend for easing worry.
Chamomile or ashwagandha when feelings of frustration are excessive.
Herbal tea gummies, yum. Ease anger with a gut microbiome treat made with skullcap, lemon balm and chamomile.
The educator for Part 1 is so soothing you might feel better just from listening to Lindsey's discussion of herbs and strategies for improving negative feelings that can occur with the fear/stress response. Some of us may tend towards anxiety more while others may have anger bubbling under their surface.
Meme for today - you can't see your reflection in a pot of boiling water. Only in still waters can you look within.
Overwhelmed by my pomegranate paper 's reference list …. I went ahead with the rest of the paper and decided not to worry about the reference list’s beauty or excess links right now. It is useful in its current form.
And it is needed.
