Pomegranate promotes removal of defective mitochondria, which might benefit PCOS then, or Parkinson's Disease and other mitochondrial conditions. Also zinc finger proteins and bitter taste receptors.
The inner pith can be minced or dried in a dehydrator and then ground into a powder. I use it in baked goods or soups and salads. It adds a bitter accent in a salad. Thickens soup broth, acts as a food preservative and antioxidant. The outer peel is so potent I only make tea or a more concentrated extract with it. I was just reading that an alcohol extract gets the phenols better and those are more helpful for weight control goals. The seeds and juice are also beneficial, and I try to use some of those too. The benefits are not quite the same, some overlap, some difference between the fruit parts. See effectivecare.info page G13. Pomegranate. https://effectivecare.info/g13-pomegranate
Very welcome! and *To finish a half statement - the outer rind is woodier and will air dry alright, if not really humid conditions. I've gotten in the habit of using the inner pith fresh and air drying the outer rind for tea. I am also now trying an alcohol extract to use by spoonfuls in other beverages.
Is there an easier way to get the pomegranate benefit? I see some supplements around. Are those any good, or would I actually have to buy a dehydrator, after finding some pomegranates, which I haven't seen anywhere, and then scrape out the inner pith and preserve it somehow? Ugh....exhausted just thinking about it.
How do you use the pomegranate ?
