Techy stuff is impossible to understand. I have been in computers since the 1960s - it's changed a lot of course, but the basics remain. If in doubt, reboot. Check to ensure all is plugged in AND switched on.

Even professionals like myself make silly basic errors. This happened to me the other week. I had twin external speakers with two leads, one USB and one a Jack. I happily plugged in the Jack - result - no sound. This is one of my desktop PCs.

I dropped into my favourite local Techy shop, Dave, and said I would call back when he got the sound working. When I returned - he said fixed, no charge. Huh - Dave laughed saying you need to plug in the USB as well because the speakers are not self energised! I had made an assumption, and didn't even think of checking. It's the way my mind works when attempting to solve problems - logical linear thinking - "this - so - that"...https://www.forbes.com/sites/phillewis1/2020/03/20/the-most-valuable-skill-in-difficult-times-is-lateral-thinking-heres-how-to-do-it/

Some people have a propensity to think laterally - outside the box. I am not one of them, which can be an expensive drawback sometimes!
