JD - "A few years ago, my ponytail got caught in an old drill while I was making shiitake mushroom logs - and the drill broke, not my hair. I had to unwind it from the drill."

Brings to mind, your only as old as you feel and think you are.

+1 for bed yoga! My routine is 1) knee-down twist both sides, 2) sphinx / cobra, 3) child's pose. 5 mins total.

What!? Epsom salt baths making my hair fall out!? I know something is, but I figured it was the testosterone in my hormone mix. so then I discovered rosemary oil rubbed in your scalp would cause a lot less hair to fall out. Then I got carried away with the rosemary oil and actually made myself kind of sick , cutaneous absorption is a real thing!

So if you don't put your head in the Epsom salt bath does it still make your hair fall out?

It's crazy how much we care about our hair, but we do.

Years ago when I first got into the habit of Epsom salt baths as a weekly or more often thing, was to add apple cider vinegar to the water to adjust the pH to body pH. Epsom salt water is more alkaline than the body or hair. Hair is a protein which will dissolve in alkaline solutions.

I add a capsule of vitamin C powder currently but I need pH strips to check the actual pH.

If adding a bit of Borax, that is super alkaline. I would need to add like a cup of apple cider vinegar to make up the pH difference. With Epsom salt it was more like a couple spoonfuls of vinegar was enough.

Essential oil directions said add baking soda and sea salt too and I’ve used that occasionally but never checked the pH - that may have been way to alkaline too. If the goal is to take an alkaline soak, then wear a bath cap maybe.

I also screwed up by not washing my hair twice or rinsing out the bath water, so maybe that was bad for it too.

But the biggest issue probably is my stress level, forgetting my supplements too much, and my marijuana smoking is bad for my skin and hair and respiration. I really should find my vape and try to cut back on smoke toxins.

Easier to write about health than to do it on a daily basis ;-)

I did my homework this morning - I did have a brand new unopened pack of pH strips in my bathroom cupboard when I looked so I checked the pH of a bath with ~ one cup Epsom salt and one 1000 mg vit C - it was at 8.0 or above. Two more vit C capsules didn't make much difference. Two spoonfuls of Apple Cider Vinegar did bring it more into the 7.2 range of human health. .... but I left my hair up because I just washed it yesterday and I didn't want to see more gone in the comb. ..... Autoimmune or eczema is happening, I am not totally well right now and really should quit smoking. I should buy a new vape maybe. Everytime I have gotten off marijuana my health gets worse after a month. The stored amount only lasts about a month.

Boy, you’ve packed a lot here! I didn’t know magnesium baths effected your hair making it fall out?!? I take one almost every day using Epsom salts.

On a segment of Dr Oz, he had an expert show how to test your vitality by place several small objects in the bottom of a 10 gallon bucket ( like one of those big paint buckets from Lowes) then filling it with rice. The object is to go reach through the rice and find all the objects and bring them to the surface. Depending how many objects you are able to bring out determines your fitness level and supposedly also measure the your longevity. He also demonstrated how when sitting on the floor and getting up without the use of your hands also gives you a similar result. So if you need both hands and have difficulty getting up you can expect your life to be shorter. If you can do so without the use of your hands than your life it’s supposed to be longer. Thank you so much, this is a great post! ✨💜✨🤗

I think other autoimmune factors are involved with the hair loss and the alkalinity of the baths may have just added a bit too much of a camel straw.

Look at the other comments for a couple lengthy comments on that topic. Maybe I will add those into another post.
