Hi Jen. First, thanks for promoting Arthur Firstenberg…I have been receiving his occasional email updates for years, and am glad to see him finally getting the exposure he deserves.

Some further Cheap Thoughts:

Unfortunately I live in a condo development and can count over a dozen wifi networks [just the ones I can see], which renders shielding my router and other EMR precautions moot. The electrosmog here is as bad as a “big city.”

RE: vibrational healing - as a retired church musician, I can attest to the power of highly-organized sound to positively affect people. I listen to Renaissance church music all day, every day; the difference between this music and the sounds of a construction site is the same as that between the Cymaglyph images you posted, and the effects on people are likely very similar.

RE: coffee - darn, indeed, but I have successfully switched to organic green tea, which has the distinct advantage of being loaded with EGCG.

Curious - what about your medical cannabis use creates formaldehyde, and what other things are sources of excess?

Cheers!

formaldehyde is in the smoke. Consuming medical mj in other forms would not be a formaldehyde source but my symptoms are relieved more by inhalation than edible oil approaches. Vaping isn't really better for the lungs when it is the oil and it doesn't seem to heat herb up enough to get full benefit. I have stopped smoking at times and it has advantages but I tend to smoke a little too. Less is better so I use some oil and some smoking. It can add to dizziness though if I do too much so adds to the complexity of "What caused these symptoms?" Maybe a few things in combination.

Do you ever treat with CBD?

Yes, I really need balance in cannabinoids. THC alone makes me a little weird. CBD is more calming. I use drops of both earlier in the day and then tend to smoke later on. It does help sleep, but maybe too much. The 'dopey' effect of marijuana is the smoking toxins unless it is a strain with myrecene (spelling might be wrong, a terpene).

Other sources of formaldehyde in modern life is bottled juice that sat on the shelf for a while. Formaldehyde content increases as it ages to fairly significant amount. Especially considering how much juice is frequently given to very small children.

Smog is going to have formaldehyde and brand new vinyl shower curtain type of purchases while they are off-gasssing volatile chemicals. New car smell is not good for us.

I linked to one of my older posts, in this post, which is quite a lengthy fact sheet type of post on all things formaldehyde and ways to reduce it maybe.

Hmmmmm...from wiki: "One study of the chemical composition of the fragrance of Cannabis sativa found β-myrcene to compose between 29.4% and 65.8% of the steam-distilled essential oil for the set of fiber and drug strains tested. Additionally, myrcene is thought to be the predominant terpene found in modern cannabis cultivars within North America...In 2015, beta-myrcene was added to California's Prop 65 list of chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm."

Imagine CA, of all places, putting cannabis on the carcinogen list! The irony...

yeah, odd place these days.

myrcene may not be the sleep inducer or munchy aspect of indicas but looks like data is still being gathered.

Extremely well written. Thanks Jennifer, your article was loaded with information I wouldn’t have ever known. I have a question : Acidic foods usually irritate the bladder and act as a diuretic... is this not a good way to combat fluid retention? I’ve suddenly noticed that I have developed fluid retention in a flash! Is pomegranate a diuretic?

Acidity increase can cause more urination but if low in fluid it will be very concentrated and there will be an sudden urge to go release a tiny amount. The kidneys are trying to get rid of the acidity as it is bad for us, so I would think it wouldn't be a good way to combat fluid retention. Plenty of water plus the pomegranate peel makes a lot of urine and is helping the body in many other ways. I have lots of posts on pomegranate in my archives. Open to browse through too.

Very welcome and much appreciated. I have a page on salicylate sensitivity and one on Retinoid Toxicity - also not considered enough by mainstream medical. It seems to be possible as an after effect of viral infection by Epstein Barr virus or SARS-CoV-2. Also liver injury/vac injury/ drug withdrawal-akathisia issues.

Yes, the peel more than the fruit juice. Hydrolyzable tannin content is highest in the outer rind. I only use that in tea and I use the inner pith fresh or dried in foods.

about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per serving maybe twice a day, of the inner pith, is a dose that will likely have you peeing during the night. I try to use it earlier in the day but it seems to take a while to work through.

I'm so glad you picked up this book! It was a game-changer for me as well. Fyi I'm currently working with Arthur to help him to get his message out via Substack. His work inspired me to look down many rabbit holes, including diabetes:

I have been writing and warning about EMFs since 2016. I recommend that you buy yourself an Electrosmog detector. It will help you to identify the source of your irritation and devise ways to avoid or block it. Another trick you must try is grounding. I have a grounding plate under my desk so that I am being earthed when working on my computer. It is absolutely essential to hard-wire your devices and switch off wifi.
