Content vs content marketing; overstuffed Nori rolls and High protein drink recipes
Follow-up to the last post and Thanks readers and commenters!
A thought generated by the last post - if new manners of Woke expect good content marketing skills from every exchange and they take that as showing respect, then it helps explain things. Not everyone is a good content marketer - ie good at social skills and communication. What is diversity? Having people good at content marketing and having people good at making content. Occasionally you get someone who is good at both, but not always.
That is kind of an over-expectation and not appreciating that people are diverse in social skills. We may not all be good at marketing ourselves or our content, but might be good at making content. That suggests why there is a market for content marketers.
Social media has made people expect content marketing tactics as conversation.
Not everyone is good at conversation either.
Just a thought.
Also regarding the last post - I shared the conversation with my mother as one of those “Did I really say that?” reviewing ~ yes, yes, I did. “It is food, you eat it.”
Thanks for the helpful and supportive comments, yes, we can't reach everyone. Especially those who are waiting for research funding regarding topics that are largely being suppressed and ignored.
One reader also appreciates the intelligent comments. Thanks readers and commenters.
Yes, Functional health practitioners might help with a more thorough screening for nutrient deficiencies or other issues detectable with lab tests. Not everyone lives in areas with Functional health providers or maybe cannot afford one as insurance may not cover it.
Regarding my mother - she is much better on the low histamine diet which became apparent after she got a trigger food two days on a row. The panic was back for a couple days. She is not better than pre-CoV jabs in many other ways though. Which is sad. The rapid aging that Walter Chesnut has discussed as a risk seems to have started over the winter. She is weaker and naps more and has poor appetite and just looks older in skin appearance.
Swallowing pills is no longer happening. I give her zinc within a trace mineral liquid drops and that helped restore her appetite somewhat. Split pea soup without chunks, red lentil curry sauce, but not too spicy, and other soft foods work. Scrambled egg or an omlette made with coconut milk, tuna salad, salmon and tofu are other protein rich foods she can eat. Meatloaf, chicken salad or in sauce, and pinto or white beans can be soft but a puree may be a need.
I share this as a warning - Why care? Because the damage builds quietly and isn't obvious before large amounts of brain tissue are already affected and restoring minimal function may be the realistic hope for targeted nutrition support.
Why? Because next week or year may be even harder to get started. Brain fog or jittery anxious thinking is not easy to function with for minimal daily tasks, let alone performing extra chores which making tea or taking a pill or going for a walk in the sunshine are all ‘tasks’. They can be viewed as a joy and a need - rejoice in the splendor of a body that can jump and play and build.
Brain Health self care needs to be on everyone's daily To Do list.
“Self-care” as a phrase seems to bring up images of spa day and white privilege maybe - from feedback online and in real life (irl). I think of it as packing a healthy lunch and brushing your teeth after a good breakfast. Why not brush the hair too! “Self-care” is daily chores of life to me.
Words can confuse or aid communication, so it can help to provide the definition that you intend the word to convey in order to reduce risk of confusion.
Self-care like brushing teeth and hair can seem like a privilege to over worked caregivers or anyone with a job and a commute. Is putting on mascara in the subway car rude? Or dangerous to the eyes? Oops, bump.
In naming something it is helpful to find out if a phrase has developed a ‘definition’ within the public’s mind that is more specific than a dictionary definition. “Daily health habits” - lengthy. “Health-care” - now tends to mean an over-priced industry that is not safe or effective - avoid, ruined by the health care industry. “Self-care” - the spa problem. How about “self-chores”? → “I need to schedule enough time for my morning self-chores.” Nah, kind of weird. “Daily To-Do’s”? - could be any chores or errands.
Everybody deserves more ‘spa’ time, let’s stick with “self-care” for now and just expand the privilege of self-care to include everyone. It needs to be easier for everyone to be able to have time and facilities for washing up.
And the ‘chore’ aspect is a mindset swap -
I took the time to brush my hair and teeth, wash my face, and have my black seed oil, —because it feels good when I take the time to do so. I do it for me.
“I do it for me, because it feels good to feel healthy and good.” versus “I floss my teeth because the dental hygienist shames me if I don’t,” … “so I feel resentful and angry every morning while doing it.” = not a healthy attitude.
Shame-based society promotes people living and doing things out of fear of what others would think. Capitalism thrives on shame-based negative ads - buy the deodorant or people will think you stink! Someone anxious then may think I will buy two or three and apply it all over! Other people ARE thinking “too much cologne this morning, back away, please” as they back away from the person politely without saying that. Though more people are speaking up about strong odors, especially as chronic illness and sensitivities have become more common.
What is a “good” self-care strategy? One that supports your positive mood and physical health.
Fake fingernails with toxic glue and polish may be trendy and living life one inch away from being in touch with the world may be appealing to some, but not to a piano player. You have to have short fingernails to be able to play piano. And the toxins aren’t good for anyone, or the nail technician. {PSA: please do not put fingernail polish on tiny children who put their fingers in their mouth, or little kids in general. In the good old days, only the unmentionable women painted themselves. Why did it become normal to paint children and women, but we still aren’t allowed to mention that females are sold and bought as if objects and so are children - and that they are treated as if it is their fault - that they are bad people who deserve to be abused marginalized and killed or beaten because - so dirty, so promiscuous. Rather than recognizing that the consumer market demanding purchase of painted females, children, and others, is the problem.
Demand more high-quality prepared food and pay the people who make it. It takes hours to make a nice meal with an entree and a few sides, and double that time to add a homemade dessert. Why is that work so underpaid compared to CEOs who can ruin a business and make a fortune at the same time? Pay for good home cooked food at reasonable prices, not the ridiculous overpriced ‘fancy’ meal that has artistic doodles of sauce sprayed on a huge plate with a few artistically arranged dinky food items.
That is like the ‘spa’ version of ‘self-care’.
Me: “That’s adorable, and what is for dinner?”
Trying to make a health habit part of a daily routine that you already do consistently can help fit it in a busy or forgetful life. See:
Two months may be needed of practice to make a new habit stick - see:
I read medical research because I don't have 17 years or more to waste being chronically ill - and degenerating further.

Over-stuffed Nori Burritos
I haven’t taken time to make a second try at over-stuffed Nori burritos. The first attempt was pretty good and could be picked up to eat. » Pickled ginger delivery units - worked perfectly for the job.
That is a large dinner plate. I wanted to try to get protein into a vegan Nori roll and I had no cucumber for crunch. Finally sliced celery added a little crunch and the center filling is tofu, avocado, garlic, drop of Lemongrass essential oil, dash of hot pepper and apple cider vinegar, mashed together.
The hot sticky rice, Jasmine rice is what I used, needs to be put on the dry sheet of Nori in a very thin layer as it sticks in place. Leave the outer edge of the Nori with no rice as it needs to overlap and stick to the inner edge where you add a row of your avocado, cucumber, and carrot or low vitamin A celery or radish. Part of the reason mine were overstuffed is because I added a thin layer of the tofu filling over all of the rice and topped that with sesame seeds to help soak up extra moisture. The filling was good, my goal is to try to use less rice next time and cucumber is nice in Nori rolls.
Watch a video for proper How-To’s 😉😋
I have been seeing more posts about crazy prices and expectation for a tip everywhere like at smoothie shop where the drink is $12.
When you learn how to make your own favorites then you need to do the work, take the time, but then can have your favorites for less money and healthier maybe.
Smoothie Soapbox: IT IS TOO MUCH FRUIT 😬😳 save your $12 and tip for something else.
How I make my mom's pea protein drink:
1 scoop Vega protein and greens, no added sugar, 20 gr protein, some added vitamins and minerals. *unaffiliated (myvega.com)
1/4 teaspoon cardamom
1/2 teaspoon N-acetylcysteine
dash of baking soda to offset the acidity of the NAC
dash of melatonin (if I remember)
Spoonful of coconut milk powder if I don't have liquid coconut milk on hand.
I whisk the powder ingredients with ~ 4 ounces of cold Pomegranate peel herb tea, or water if I don't have that ready.
Then I add another ~ 4-5 ounces of coconut milk and whisk with:
spoon of Pure Maple Syrup, for sweetener and nutrients- manganese, magnesium, others.
half spoon of vanilla extract
That makes about 10 ounces. “A spoonful of sugar helps the (bitter) medicine go down in the most delightful way.” - Mary Poppins song lyric.
People need to enjoy their food, or they won't want to eat it.
Our body and brain can use glucose for energy but not fructose —
fruit sugar is only usable by the liver.
The Vega drink mix is pea protein and works with a low histamine diet but is not inexpensive (myvega.com) so I have been making a lot more split pea soup as my mother and I both like that. Ensure or Glucerna protein/calorie drinks for boosting intake of elderly or ill people tend to be very sweet, syrupy sweet (Ensure) or slightly less so for the diabetic version (Glucerna) and they are loaded with the not bioacitve forms of B12 and folate.
Split pea soup is really good.

On content marketing: it is highly energy consuming to post on multiple platforms. I know that I only have enough bandwidth for two or three at the most. If you were selling product, it might be worth hiring someone to do it for you. Otherwise, pick a couple and don't worry about it. (Also - why on earth would you care what the Woke camp wants?)
Be yourself. That's always the best way to be.
I couldn't agree more with how the concept of self care is misunderstood. Caring for our Self is nourishing our soul vs being selfish is feeding our ego with painted nails.
