Thanks Jen. Perhaps a better approach is to list brands to avoid. Here's a fairly recent article from ANH about consolidation in the supplement sector:

https://anh-usa.org/big-pharma-buying-up-supplement-companies/

Major brands I avoid include Solgar, Solaray, Swanson, Jarrow, Country Life, Garden Of Life, New Chapter, Nature’s Way...

>>...Nestle Health Science, a division of Nestle, bought Pure Encapsulations and Douglas Foods, along with a host of other supplement companies including Garden of Life, Vital Proteins, Nuun, Wobenzym, Persona Nutrition, Genestra, Orthica, Minami, AOV, Klean Athlete and Bountiful. Bountiful itself owns Solgar, Osteo Bi-Flex, Puritan’s Pride, Ester-C and Sundown, which are now all under Nestle’s control...

Good to know, thanks. That is disturbing.

GNC and Life Extension are what I use most for vitamins and minerals and herbs vary.

UPDATE...I am removing Doctor's Best from my go-to list: "sold to North Castle Partners in 2014, acquired by Xiamen Kingdomway Group Co, China - Acquired Date: 2016"

Thanks, your comments are very helpful and I should update the post with the info. Just have had little time and low energy.

Happy to contribute. Remember what they say on airplanes: "Adjust your own mask first, before helping those around you." Self-care comes first, because without a full battery, how can we recharge others? Thanks for all you do.

Wow thanks .. great article..but sad!

Pure encapsulations , Douglas and genestra I buy and pay more for better purity etc but will now look elsewhere .. why fund big pharma , companies if can avoid..

That was not what I meant as a takeaway. Any vitamin focused company is not the same as big pharma. I may use Pure Encapsulations products too, not sure. Nor sure of the others. My point was more that reading the bottle should be included, not just picking a brand.

Yes I agree to read labels to see what's in there ( and I read yr ingredients to look out for to fam)

but now that I know some of these great brands are taken over by bigger food companies or pharma as the guy posted above , I will look for even local good quality and smaller companies and help those out if can .. cheaper too :)

When choosing supplements, I don't just read labels, I make spreadsheets. For example, it's important for vitamin B-12 to be the METHYL version. Of the 30-odd supplement bottles in my pantry, the 4 most common brands are Host Defense, NOW Foods, Nature's Way and Doctor's Best. Hope that helps!

Jennifer:

Any comparisons between ingredients of Ivermectin and Plaxlovid?

Invermetin seems to have mostly “inert” natural ingredients…

Silica, diamactacious earth, Magnesium sterate…

From a layperson’s perspective,

These ingredients seems to absorb excess moisture/byproducts of the bad bacteria as it slices and dices the nucleus of the cells?

Paxlovid seems to be another culling drug. Ivermectin is helpful and safe for people without a leaky blood brain barrier. I don't see how the two are comparable. Nobel Prize winning medication vs a harmful thing.

That sums it up! This layperson was looking at a label of contents comparison! 😬
