Nature is healing even in images in an office waiting room. Abstract art with jagged or straight geometry was not soothing. Nature or more serene abstract art was soothing. Driving to work had more health benefits when there was water/nature along the route instead of all urban.
10.5: Meal planning may even help prevent seizures & sudden death.
Meal planning may also help maintain a good mood at social events or business meetings by having a variety of foods and non-alcoholic beverages available along with alcoholic beverages. Serving alcohol without serving adequate food along with the alcohol can increase risk of violence for heavy drinkers if they become dehydrated and magnesium deficient.
An acute drop in magnesium levels can cause severe irritability or anger or even rage. Traditional bar snacks like popcorn or peanuts would provide magnesium, and also sodium from the salt, both of which are electrolytes that are lost with the increased urination caused by alcohol consumption. (10.7, 10.8)
A shift in brain magnesium from inside of the cell where it is protective to the outside area around the cells or within the blood vessels is also part of the cause of increased loss of magnesium with excessive intake of alcohol. In a research study with animals the sudden loss of magnesium observed in brain cells was also associated with strokes and sudden death in the animals, with a larger risk associated with larger doses of alcohol. The authors suggest the same mechanism may be occurring when strokes and sudden death occur in people after an episode of binge or heavy drinking. (10.9)
Seek medical help as treatments are available for use during severe alcohol withdrawal that can help reduce the risk of seizures and sudden death. Magnesium can be helpful in short term treatment but may not be needed long term; when alcohol is no longer being consumed the short term shift of magnesium from the brain cell interior to the extracellular space stops, and the increased urinary excretion of the electrolyte returns to normal. (10.10) *See the Effective Care Resources page for more on the topic of alcohol and medications.
Use of magnesium supplements during recovery from alcohol abuse was found somewhat helpful for reducing symptoms of depression. (10.11)
Magnesium and calcium are both electrically active and work together, magnesium causes relaxation of muscles while calcium causes contraction. A sudden increase in calcium and loss of magnesium can cause severe muscle cramps. (10.12)
āSevere hypermagnesemia is uncommon because of the kidneysā ability to excrete a magnesium load, but magnesium homeostasis can be easily disordered toward deficiency in malnutrition, malabsorption, renal tubular damage, diuretic therapy, and chronic alcoholism, some of the main non-endocrine causes.ā (10.12)
Excessive loss of electrolytes is part of the underlying problem causing the symptoms of dehydration, so when alcohol is being served it may help promote health and a peaceful atmosphere to also offer a meal or nutrient dense snacks such as the traditional bar snacks popcorn or peanuts, or tree nuts for the allergy prone, in order to prevent magnesium deficiency.
It is also important to have water available at social or business gatherings where alcohol is being served in order to help prevent dehydration and the risk of symptoms of disorientation, irritability or rage.
We used to call my Grandma Mg. Her name was Magna and she was very small hence the g. She went missing during covid. The rest home she was in lost her under some ventilator boxs, but sadly she had suffocated before they got to her.. there was nothing that we could do for Mg ( my grandma)

Seriously? In reading this comment, it sounds like an Onion piece.
If true: that is a troubling anecdote indeed.
My mother is nearing the ripe old age of 92. I'm watching her tool around our sunny patio (no chemtrails today: bright blue sky, zero haze... woo hoo!) using her walker. 60 laps at least 4x per day.
Fyi: She really doesn't require the device. She walks perfectly fine
when "indoors" however it makes her "feel" safer. (She tripped on an uneven flagstone in our back yard in April of 2023. Fell and scraped her elbow. Hence the purchase of said walker...)
She also recently acquiesced to hearing aids ("Mum to me: they're for OLD people!! Me to mum: Guess what...?) which she's still uncomfortable using but at least her TV set isn't blasting MSM "News" at 38 decibels these days.
"Baby steps."
Bottom line: The old ones really should be permitted to "live at home" for as long as humanly able to be "managed" there. (Not the North American model I know...)
So sorry to hear about Magma aka Mg's unfortunate demise in that "Rest in Peace Home" Justin... š„
I did mention K2, I have had to add it to my routine. It can't work alone either though. Nutrients are team players. Humans/some humans are celebrity seekers or wanting a leader, a single focus of attention maybe.

I have a few other examples of that area of research on effectivecare.info. https://effectivecare.info/10-food-helps-too-1 Food helps mood and health, and nature, and art.
One section on that page:

All really useful observations. Now I know the real reason for the bar snacks. And aquaria in waiting rooms.
Koi ponds are soothing.

How nice for your mother and you.
It's better for mum, rather than "nice" for me. In all honesty I think her cunning plan is to outlive me but... thanks Jennifer. š
Trolls are people too, I thinkš¤Ø.
Trolls are kind of like the dissidents dissidents....
Gotcha. š
Covid got too many of us. So sorry to hear about your missing Mg.

Vitamin K2 has more to do with osteoporosis than magnesium or calcium do.
