Tinnitus, insulin resistance, Type 2 diabetes and MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY; also migraines, EFT tapping, xylitol & addictive tendencies (in me).
Magnesium is another suppressed topic. Free ebook, Butchered by "Healthcare" by Robert Yoho, MD.
I found this article written by someone who has had tinnitus for 40 years. The article is about how tinnitus is more common for people with insulin resistance or diabetes. It sounds informed BUT the person still has tinnitus and therefore do they really know what causes it?
No, they seem unaware that tinnitus is a common symptom of magnesium deficiency along with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. It is disinformation to be given incomplete information.

I was looking up xylitol as a possible cause of tinnitus as it seems to cause it for me when I eat too many of the Zellie’s Dental Mints. They are sweet and yummy and set off my sweet tooth and then I can eat a handful instead of one or two. Too much xylitol also causes gut symptoms from overfeeding gut microbiome species (not harmful ones at least).
I recognized that I was eating the Zellie’s mints addictively but still responded to an email with a visit to the site after I had emptied my first bottle. At the site I added a positive review while also noting that other positive reviews were calling them addictively good. But I bought the giant bag anyway - 1400 delicious Zellie’s instead of a dinky bottle of 250 or smaller bag.
I don’t know if the sweetness is enough to cause a dopamine surge but that seems to be involved. I don’t get tinnitus from eating only the 5-10 Zellie mints per day that is recommended (1-2 when you get up, after each meal and before bed).
Neotame or aspartame can cause tinnitus while I didn’t see much about xylitol and tinnitus. Neotame can be used off-label to add sweetening power to many products even things labeled “organic”. I have also had a bit of a migraine for a few days now when I hadn’t been having many for quite a while. The Zellie’s do seem to help dental health but so does my pomegranate extract mouthwash followed by some alkaline potassium bicarbonate in water. The dental strategy that has seemed most effective for my gum disease symptoms has been oil pulling with a drop or two of Tea Tree oil and Clove essential oil.
Addiction is when you are grabbing or rebuying the thing that seems to cause problems for you instead of spending your time or money on the things that seem to help but maybe aren’t as tasty.
Addiction is when the thing is in control instead of you being in control. So today I am trying to say no to more than one Zellie’s mint. And I may just stop using them for a few days to see if they are a factor with my low level migraine. Neotame had been a definite migraine trigger for me. The Zellie’s bottle does clearly state that no other artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colors were used in the product so it must be the excess of xylitol that causes my tinnitus symptom when I scarf way too many of the mints.
Xylitol may be a yeast grown product as demand has grown for the wood alcohol. It was originally extracted from beech trees but is somewhat limited in nature. Yellow plums are a particularly good source of natural xylitol. Xylitol is not that rich in plants so growing it in yeast is a strategy for meeting the increased demand for the sugar alcohol. It is not calorie free but has about a third of the calories of table sugar and doesn’t effect blood sugar levels like regular sugar. It is safer for use by people with diabetes. (Ahuja, et al., 2020)
As a reminder of the complexity of health - my currently low sodium level may be a factor in my having had a low level migraine for a few days.
Maybe it is not the Zellie’s. Low sodium intake was found to be more common in sufferers of migraines than excess salt intake, which is what the researchers had expected. (Pogoda, et al., 2016) Too much diuretic use can leave you low in electrolytes which is another form of dehydration in addition to being low in water.
“Odds of probable migraine history decreased with increasing dietary sodium intake (odds ratio = 0.93, 95% confidence interval = 0.87, 1.00, P = .0455). This relationship was maintained after adjusting for age, sex, and body mass index (BMI) with slightly reduced significance (P = .0505). In women, this inverse relationship was limited to those with lower BMI (P = .007), while in men the relationship did not differ by BMI.” (Pogoda, et al., 2016)
So I added some salt to my breakfast/brunch and maybe it helped a little but not much. I can’t use many types of pain reliever meds due to the salicylate excess.
I had pretty much stopped using salt at all with the ongoing puffy leg problem. It has been so nice to have my normal size legs back. Are my jeans too large or too small? The answer was different between my early morning legs and my later in the day legs, while I was having salicylate excess regularly.
Migraines do not seem to be well understood based on this review article about ways blood vessels might be a factor even though vasodilation was not found in people with migraines. (Jacobs and Dussor, 2016) To me it feels more like the blood vessels are tightening and lack of oxygen is a problem.
Some TRP channel activators were significant migraine triggers for me when the problem was more frequent for me. And I did have ginger and clove oil in homemade crackers yesterday. I had to stop using those due to colitis symptoms. TRP channel activators can also cause diarrhea for IBS sufferers.
I got off topic here. Migraines are a big topic.
Too much EMF, bright screens and late nights can also be factors.

The EFT technique for reducing the intensity of strong feelings, and the effect of Vibration & Frequencies on health
Learn the Basics of the Tapping Technique, by Extern Charity, EFT demonstration video. The explanation for why to do it is very brief and doesn’t mention the Prime Meridian energy channels, so it might seem silly. Why do this? The simpler explanation given here is that the tapping reduces the stress chemicals cortisol and adrenalin. (Youtube) I recommend a different course though, by Sue Beer & Emma Roberts called Introduction to EFT is more thorough in the explanation and has more demonstration sessions with real participants who are working through their trauma, addictive urges, or pain.
The Introduction to EFT course is available for free to members of the site consciouslife.com (annual fee).
Sue and Emma also offer a free mini-course on their own website, theeftcentre.com, Emotional Freedom at Your Fingertips, (theeftcentre-s-school.thinkific.com).
Vibration and good frequencies of sound have healing power due to their affect on our energy channels and stem cell production within the PrimoVascular System. Can we regrow teeth with the help ofvibration? Apparently, yes: Regrowing lost teeth with ultrasound vibrations, a Telegram post with a video - https://t.me/greatreject/59318
Even though . . . I have addictive tendencies and bought the giant bag of Zellie’s . . . I deeply and thoroughly love and appreciate myself. - Emotional Freedom Technique
EFT tapping technique has helped me adjust my mental attitude even if I don’t do the tapping too.
I had a breakthrough moment in understanding the point of linking the “Even though…” statement with the expression of self love or at least self acceptance with an “and I am okay”. It is the other half of good parenting messages that we, and our parents, may not have received much as a child. I was thinking about something form childhood and the “Even though…” popped in my head and I realized that what I generally always heard as a child was only the (Even though…) “….you did something wrong, or bad.”
Without the affirmation of “but you are loved” or “but you are an okay, good enough human” the child may interpret it as “I did something bad, and therefore I am a bad child.” The child may learn that as a deep core value that sticks with them for their adult life and it can lead to not trying to succeed or not trying to change bad habits. If you believe that you are just bad, then you may also believe that doing bad things is just what you do, or even what you have to do. These beliefs can be unspoken while still affecting our choices and actions.
I was surprised as a teen to learn that some kids were given a dollar for each A grade on their report card. I would be more likely to have been asked why there was a minus on one of the A’s on my report card, or why did I get a B in something? <Answer: because gym class was a required subject.> My parents weren’t trying to be mean, they just always saw room for improvement in everything. Or they never received those messages either, so how would they know that they were “thoroughly loved and deeply appreciated”?
It was eye-opening to hear about an in-law with Alzheimer’s compared to my mom - he was said to be happy and grateful and expressing loving statements to everyone around him. My mother is more typically a traumatized mess of shame and self loathing and hypercritical attitudes about letting anyone else help her with daily care. When you reverse back to your childhood, you better hope that it was a happy childhood…
We may rationalize our actions or reactive behavior with a verbal statement suggesting it was a rational choice - Zellie’s are good for my teeth, so I am just doing something good for my body right now… while eating way more than the recommended serving. Maybe even while the tinnitus or pressure from a beating pulse is ringing in your ears. That is me lying to myself or not being mindfully aware of the link between my actions and my health. Xylitol may have some negative health effects for some people but generally has proven to be very safe when used in moderate amounts.
*Or maybe I am too low in sodium, to repeat: Maybe it is not the Zellie’s causing my low level ongoing migraine. Low sodium intake was found to be more common in sufferers of migraines than excess salt intake, which is what the researchers had expected. They assumed that migraines would be associated with high blood pressure. (Pogoda, et al., 2016) Too much diuretic use can leave you low in electrolytes which is another form of dehydration in addition to being low in water.
EFT is reparenting ourselves with the nurturing messages that we may not have heard enough of as a child.
Using the EFT tapping technique and phrasing is helping to reparent ourselves. The repetition is needed to build new pathways in the brain with the more loving beliefs and it is helping to tone down the intensity of unresolved emotional memories or nonverbal early childhood trauma.
Nature is healing.
