Semaglutide, brand name Ozempic or Wegovy, is a new weight loss drug with kidney & blindness risks.

There is a trendy new weight loss drug helping people lose stubborn weight - but is it “safe and effective” as advertised?
Trendy new meds can add up to large numbers of harmed people once it has been used long enough to cause problems in enough people to start noticing. Then it can still take years before complaints lead to an investigation or a drug being pulled from the market. The trendy early adopters are volunteering to be the early phase of a product's development when less is known about it.

The drug is being marketed to improve blood sugar levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide is a hormone (GLP-1 Receptor agonist) that helps us feel full and people do report feeling satisfied with less food than their norm. The drug is now also being promoted to help stop other addictive behavior too. The Catch22 - people tend to regain the lost weight when they stop using semaglutide (oral or injectable, about once a week).
It may cause too much fat loss and lead to a gaunt look in the face. Digestive complaints are a frequent side effect, in ~ 50% of users. Long term, it may reduce flexibility of the small intestine which increases risk of obstruction. In a two year study, 96.1% of the participants had an adverse event and 7.9% of those were deemed serious. [20] (on Substack)
Kidney dysfunction worsening after starting semaglutide has been seen in a few patients who had kidney dysfunction associated with diabetes. Cancer, pancreatitis and vascular damage in the retinas of the eyes (retinopathy ~ in 5%, is a risk of blindness) have also been seen in people using semaglutide. (on Substack)
My weight control tips in a nutshell, (eat more nuts/seeds/beans) and:
Adequate protein at meals and snacks, above 12% of the total calories of the meal or snack. (last post) Ideally- this would be a healthy strategy for Senior Citizens anyway, who need protein throughout the day, instead of just a big dinner. Bean post, Tofu post.
Bitter tasting phytonutrients in meals and snacks add satiety, feeling satisfied. This includes many herbs, spices, green veggies and onions, garlic, dark cocoa, coffee, tea. Less processed foods have stronger flavor. Chocolate syrup has little polyphenol content compared to dark cocoa powder.
Have adequate fat content in a meal as it is also promotes a satisfied feeling. Fewer seed oils, more nuts and seeds is higher fiber and nutrients. Avocado and olive oil are healthy fat, and coconut oil in moderation. It is a saturated fat and we need less than 10% total calories from saturated fat or mitochondria are signaled to switch to fermentation instead of using the more efficient Citric Acid Cycle. Less than 50-60% of total calories should from all fats or the switch will also occur.
Drink plenty of water, exercise, have good light/dark habits for circadian health. Get sunshine or artificial UV bearing light if possible. Heart/quantum health protocol post.
Avoid glyphosate as it disrupts the microbiome and reduces magnesium and may disrupt vitamin D metabolism. See video below for more information.
Eat adequate zinc and fiber or resistant starch foods for a healthy microbiome. Avoid stress - that causes gut dysbiosis too (an unhealthy microbiome). A happy gut leads to a happier mood and less inflammation as negative species add to inflammation. Avoid ultra-processed foods as they promote the negative species and healthy species cannot survive on it. Leptin Protocol post.
Nrf2 promoting foods include omega 3 fatty acids and many plant foods or spices. Niacin and methyl B complex helps the body use energy more efficiently and iodine and selenium are also needed in greater amounts than typically consumed.
Other stuff I forgot…. add those in the comments, thanks!
Like fasting - Dr. Henry Ealy has a good Twitter Thread on the need for a longer fast than Intermittent Fasting for ideal promotion of autophagy for the purposes of spike clear-out. Fasting 101 (twitter.com/DrHenryEaly)

How convenient that the side effects of the diabetes/weight loss drugs are similar to those that come with the Covid shot
JD - Increased risk of: hypoglycemia, diabetic retinopathy and acute injury to: cardiovascular, GI, renal and biliary systems. But that's not all you get... increased C-cell stimulation & risk of hyperplasia leading to thyroid and pancreatic cancer. Don't worry, Oh, Oh, Oh, It's Magic... https://youtu.be/NhcpC_fARXo
