'One Idea to Rule Them All - Reverse Engineering American Propaganda'

A book by Michelle Stiles shows us how we are fooled and the history of how we have been fooled for over a century.

There are lots of great quotes in the book, ‘One Idea to Rule Them All - Reverse Engineering American Propaganda’, by Michelle Stiles. A reader’s comment recommended the book to me a few months ago and I bought it but hadn’t read it until today. It is great, thanks!

This is a long post with a lot of resources, so I added memes to break it up a bit, memes from various Notes or Posts, thanks Substackers!

*While there is a lot of links about a “Left Report” - the controlled media and controlled politicians are not just on the Left but the Left has grown more overt in pushing social agendas that seem linked to the insider cult who abuses and traffics children and uses them for blackmail and control of people.

Words matter, a lot. Words set a narrative and that can then limit other discussion of the idea or lack of a word can make something seem like a non-real thing or a non-issue at least.

Recognition of a problem is the first step towards change. Sometimes recognition simply means acknowledging that the thing you are doing has been a problem and you just didn’t want to admit it to yourself because you didn’t want to change. Ice cream is delicious, so is coffee, so is my government’s disinformation that is coated in sugary sweetness and tipped with a syringe needle. Denial is not a river in Egypt.

If everything’s coming up rainbows, then do we have a problem at all?

Truth matters. Comfortable lies are more comfortable though. No one likes the truthteller - hence the common expression “Don’t shoot the messenger [of the bad news].”

“When you want to help people, you tell them the truth. When you want to help yourself, you tell them what they want to hear.” - Thomas Sowell

The useful message to me, as an educator, is that people don’t care about facts, or they aren’t going to be changed by fact-based information as readily as they are by other factors.

Michelle Stiles provides us with a theory by Gustave Le Bon about how people form their beliefs called the Infrastructure or five pillars of Belief. He wrote The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind in 1886 and the book was a huge success. It was translated into nineteen languages within one year and was read by world leaders like Hitler, Mussolini, Theodore Roosevelt and advertising creator Edward Bernays. (Chapter 2)

Gustave Le Bon provided methods for changing public opinion without resorting to rational reasons - in fact those don’t work as well as Imagination, Language, Authority, Social Pressure, and personal Experience.

Infrastructure of Belief - the five pillars supporting belief. Chapter 6

1. Imagination - cultural media, popular songs of the era and local culture - Hollywood vs Bollywood will modify the daydreams or creative projects of young people watching that media.

2. Language - we have all seen how much words and how they are defined or changed in definition matters - a lot. A young schoolboy literally got in trouble over a school assignment - he was supposed to select his desired pronouns . . . he selected Chicken Nuggets and Dinosaur. The boy was serious, but the school took it as deliberate mocking and punished him - allegedly, via a social media post. Abraham Lincoln might have posted that for all I know… but I can imagine my son choosing the same ‘pronouns’ as his two favorites too.

3. Authority - we believe trusted authority figures, or celebrities too.

4. Social Pressure - “Trust what others are saying and doing.” Crowd trends will influence individual beliefs and habits because we have a deeply innate need to belong and fit in with the social group. Not wanting to be ostracized is about survival instincts.

5. Experience - We believe what we literally see and do - however we are living in a time of surreal, staged events - publicity stunts by politicians, celebrities, or news sites, or more deadly government false flags*. Stagecraft was created by Edward Bernays with his introduction of his Uncle Sigmund Freud’s psychology techniques to learning what the buying public are moved by. (Ch 4) // Operation Sheepskin creates a false reality that may move people to want the image - sudden desire to buy a piano and build a music room in their small home… similar illusions are created when a diffuse group of voices are all saying similar things. The repetition leads to the public believing it - everyone else does? right? or so it seems. (Ch. 7) - With

Testing, testing…. Johnny wanted to plant apple seeds, so chicken nuggets (he) saved some seeds from dinosaur’s apple at lunch, and then chicken nuggets dug a spot and planted and watered the seeds. Chicken nuggets told dinosaur’s mother about how chicken nuggets had planted the seeds and she was so proud of dinosaur (him).

I needed a possessive - he, him, his. »> We need more than two ‘pronouns’ for proper grammar; she, her, hers; they, them, their.

How about we go backwards on the dial and just use thee and thou for everyone? and thur for the possessive?

Making up new words for yourself or your inner circle is one thing, making up new words and expecting everyone else to be able to consistently remember to use them is another thing - and largely, an unreasonable thing. Making it illegal to accidentally say the wrong new made-up phrasing, is a really unreasonable thing.

And yet it is happening.

Why? Why did a young boy get punished for choosing Chicken nuggets and Dinosaur as his pronouns? Why was he being confused with such a silly assignment? Up until that day of the assignment he was probably used to being referred to as a boy/he/him. Being offered a ‘choice’ suggests it is a free choice - not limited to rigid authoritarian definitions like she/her, they/them, or he/him. I was born with green eyes, I am not going to bother buying colored contacts to choose a different eye color. But even if I did, my Driver’s license would/should still say ‘green’ eye color. The government is pushing this not-quite-a-free-for-all change in language.

Michelle Stiles encourages us to pay closer attention and watch for and see the patterns of information manipulation as they are happening. Historically she suggests digging into the JFK assassination, 9/11, and/or the Covid19 era for examples of media and government manipulation of the truth.

Forms of Idea Censorship (pp 243-245)

• Simple Suppression - some stories get published, others limited in view, in press or with social media algorithms or shadow-banning.

• Distortion - alternative views are only presented in a partial way or distorted, negative highlights.

• Discrediting without Refuting - an opinion is presented as if widely accepted truth and therefore the other point is swept away - everyone believes this opinion.

• Discrediting with Supposed Refuting

  • The investigatory Commission - set up a rigged commission to investigate whatever issue, but have preselected members and control the witness list, questions, and present a predetermined outcome to the concerned public.

  • Fact-Checkers - a newer online presence to control the spread of “fake news” - anything that goes against the manipulative media/gov narrative. Example of a fact checking site: factcheck.org/2019/10/obama-didnt-authorize-lying-by-the-media/

• Reframing Competing Ideas as Hurtful and Offensive - to protect some vulnerable population from “harm”. This can move to criminalization of the competing ideas designated as hurtful or offensive, and that is a sign of totalitarianism. [»Red flag in play, we are here]

• Allow for Left and Right Political Dissent - this gives us the appearance of a level playing field and the illusion of free speech which is needed to support the overall deception that a democracy still exists. *It also keeps people distracted and entertained and is a big, big money maker for a lot of people. Campaign budgets have exploded since Corporate People were birthed by the Citizen’s United decision in 2010. (npr.org)

Operation Spider’s Web is Michelle Stiles term for the diffuse network of manipulative messengers that can repeat a theme across many formats, making it seem disconnected and a widely popular idea rather than being like the organized launch of a company’s new product “The only man who behaved sensibly was my tailor: he took my measure anew every time he saw me, whilst all the rest went on with their old measurements and expected them to fit me.” - George Bernard Shaw, playwrite

• Mockery and Ridicule without Refuting - the person doesn’t have to be proven wrong if the public thinks they can’t possibly be worth listening to. Heckling might lead people to self-censor rather than continue taking the public abuse or risking further harm to career or reputation. Labels like “conspiracy theorist” might be used. . . or worse. Bits of truth may be skewed into something worse.

• De-platforming on Social Media Outlets - persisting in being outspoken about the topics we are supposed to be silent about can lead to being banned from a site or demonetized from ad revenue - reducing reach and support for the alternative viewpoint.

Odd trend in titles caught my eye - fake quote, "i've kept TERRIBLE things quiet!" —→ alien visitors and aether as a free energy source.

The underlying theme seems to be free energy, Nikolai Tesla, and it is being kept from us and about aliens. Billy Carson is an eloquent speaker and has read a lot of ancient texts - and says that the Bible is a rewrite in part of the Emerald Tablets of Thoth. See quote below. • Israel Anderson is another Biblical/ancient writings scholar who found ‘gods’ to be a theme in many ancient places, not just the Bible. I skipped around to see what the video was about and later a different speaker, Steven M. Greer, PhD, Ufologist and advocate for exposing information about aliens and advanced technologies on Earth. He was sharing science about Nikolai Tesla’s free energy machine. He is talking about consciousness and how aliens would communicate telepathically or via a machine interface. He had a near death experience when young, 1973, and he experienced a oneness, a cosmos.

Nikolai Tesla described an endless energy field being present. Free energy for the public would make the quadri-billion dollar oil and energy industry obsolete. Stephen Greer mentions bags of cash being taken to journalists to secure their cooperation in squelching news about alien sightings or UFO crashes (UFOs use the free energy source to travel, ref Wilhelm Reich’s work with clouds - he was able to disrupt the flight path of UFO observers.

Per the alien survivor testimony, US documents, they came because of a machine that Nikolai Tesla had made which beamed a strong signal that reached alien attention. prior post). Quantum entanglement - non-local connection is discussed. The CIA remote viewing program was very real, lasted 20-30 years and he knew some on the viewers. It worked rather than being the dud as the media shared. Regarding threat from aliens as seen in Hollywood movies - “They’re clearly not hostile” … or we would be gone already, we would already have been taken out as they are more advanced than we are. It was known in the Emerald Tablets of Thoth, that the heart is a vortex and adds vortical motion to blood flow. Akasa may be aether energy which is attracted to water and magnetic metal and likes tubes … blood has magnetic attracting iron and flowing water-based plasma.
