Myofascial massage with essential oils - D. Gary Young's Raindrop technique.
An Essential Oils Book Club post.
Today I attended a virtual demonstration of the Rain drop massage technique developed by D. Gary Young. The technique is described in the Essential Oils Pocket Reference, Limited Condensed Version, 3rd Ed. 2004, Chapter 5, pages 35-52. *This book appears to be out of print. Inexpensive used copies are for sale and some pricy ones. The book is still in demand. A 2019, 8th edition is available here: https://www.abebooks.com/9781732848559/Essential-Oils-Pocket-Reference-8th-1732848556/plp?cm_sp=plped-_-1-_-image
The oils recommended include highly antimicrobial oils: Oregano, Thyme, Basil or Balsam Fir Cypress, Wintergreen, Marjoram, and Peppermint. Personally I have to avoid salicylate rich Wintergreen and Peppermint.
Other highly antimicrobial essential oils include Rosemary, Clove, Eucalyptus, Summer Savory, Bay Laurel and many others. The nice thing about essential oils is that the same phytonutrients can be found in different plants so you can substitute oils that you have or that work with your body.
The amount of essential oils and undiluted aspect might be a lot for someone. Diluting with a carrier oil and using fewer oils may be better. And which oils are used could also be modified to match what you know suits your body.
I followed along with the demonstration with self massage. I used Oregano oil, Marjoram, Manuka, and Clove oils. I was able to focus on my feet, lower back, neck and shoulders - the parts of body I could reach. I also add some clove oil to my abdomen and liver area most days too to aid liver health.
A similar demonstration video of the Raindrop massage technique is available here:
The gentle massage motions are somewhat like doing myofascial release massage. This myofascial release massage video focuses on stiff neck and shoulder muscles.

Thinking about your 😺...be alert to the oils that are toxic to felines. Especially aerosols. I use aeosols in the car. A lot can be used at night except the stimulating oils. Some can be used orally. Keep 😺 safe. We just started driving the Interstate 15 south following the planned enslavement from Canada. Love the opportunity to drive past the YL farm and stop in.
