Wishes don’t make things happen. Doing things does.
I took part in a survey for a research study on a mental health topic. My answers would put me in the control group but it involved answering a lot of questions about childhood stuff and warned that it might be triggering. One section included an evaluation of ACES - Adverse Childhood Event factors - I had some.
ACES are associated with increased risk for later life problems. Part of the section included asking about the good things in your childhood life - which of these stable life factors did you experience? I am fortunate, I had had them all, except one I hesitated on - did you have an adult/older person to trust and talk to besides your parents? I could certainly talk to a teacher or school guidance counselor, but I never did. I answered no to that question.
Mr. Rogers talks about the benefit to a child to have at least one good role model, kindly, empathetic, listening, empowering, in their life. It greatly increases success rate for children growing up in difficult settings to have someone like that around. My family isolated a lot and Mr. Rogers was a good role model for me who I cared about and still do. Listening to him talk to adult audiences or interviewers is interesting - to see the man on the other side of the TV screen.
Mocking, desecrating what is traditionally valued - seem to be part of the goal of those with the money paying for controlled media. Resisting may mean keeping your stress response in check and recognizing it as a tactic to distract and divide - and resisting that.
Fred Rogers is asked what he thinks of late-night parody sketches about him. Mr. Rogers gives a kind response about having met Johnny Carson and he seemed to mean well. He then shared an example of a more shock jock dangerous ‘joke’ impersonating Mr. Rodgers voice and telling kids to do something dangerous. He calls that heinous and is openly angry and concerned that kids might be confused and really trust the voice that sounds like Mr. Rogers.
Why is it okay for society to mock and prank and harm as “just funny” behavior? We do need more good neighbors of all faiths. I didn’t consider Mr. Rogers a religious show even as a child. It was clearly not like the ones that did talk about God and Jesus a lot. My parents did not attend organized religion or practice it. I had a Children’s Bible and read it, gift to the family from my grandparents - lovely illustrations. The Bible itself needs and R rating for sex and violence. I’ve dipped into it as an adult and found it beautiful in spots and sickening in other sections. No wonder people are vicious to women, the Bible is. It also is supportive of women. Many voices, different Chapters.
There is an alternative interpretation that we are innately spiritual in our spinal fluid and pineal gland and living in balance helps us achieve greater energy flow through our Chakras, spine, and Crown Chakra. Is our physical phase just a phase and strengthening our aura is our current goal?
And how important are our body part’s, their function, and our children’s?
I added a few more stanzas to a song by Mr. Rodgers that Mickey Z. had shared in a post. “Was Mister Rogers a TERF? - by Mickey Z. - Post-Woke (substack.com) - I think “TERF” is a politicized slur against activists who are in support of safety for women and girls - who have the DNA of women and girls. That the topic is so hot-button politicized is a cue that this is a shiny bauble with an intent to distract, divide and disintegrate traditional family structure.
The song is in Mickey Z’s Substack post, sung by Mr. Rodgers over many years. It is clips in time order showing him aging, but still as cheerful and kind as ever.
My version is in a podcast episode, “Everybody’s Fancy” - Mr. Fred Rogers; an extended version for modern times. Endocrine Disrupting chemicals; trauma warning, death of a trans youth is discussed.'How Are You Feeling? 3(1), the first in what I called season 3 - 2023, 3rd or 4th year since I started it surprisingly enough - CoV happened and changed my research focus.
Apparently since my last podcast anchor.fm got bought by spotify and now my podcast is on spotify and has a poll question and a discussion question as extra sections on the site. How are you feeling?
