Gender dysphoria, a man made example, is in the history of gender theory.

The story of David Weimer and his twin brother and Dr. John Money, a scientist who se ually abused them and wrote fraudulent research articles about David.

David Weimer was born a twin boy and a botched circumcision left him without a functioning penis. His parents passed on a circumcision for the brother. Dr. Money had a theory that male and female gender behavior is all a social construct, all derived from how we raise children from toddlerhood.

Dr. Money convinced the boys’ parents to remove the damaged twin’s testicles and raise him as a girl - very strictly never letting the child know he wasn't really a girl. Dress him in pink dresses and give him dolls. Grandparents, school, everyone cooperated. He didn't learn the truth until age 14.

The parents changed the boy's name to Brenda but Brenda behaved more like a boy and even without a penis from a young age wanted to pee standing up. In school ‘Brenda’ was teased by other kids and called ‘Cavewoman’ because ‘she’ walked and looked different than other girls.

The boys were taken back to Dr Money for annual visits and he sexually abused them in role playing ways, forcing the two to pretend intercourse type behaviors with each other. The boys refused to go back eventually and the parents didn't understand why. They believed the Doctor to be a great man.

Later in life Brenda changed his own name to David and lived as a man, had a wife and three adopted children, worked as a janitor. He made videos about his life and said he was shocked when he found out that decades of research was based on claims that his own childhood had been a “success”. Dr. Money had lied blatantly in had articles about the twins and Brenda's life as a “girl”.

Sadly it was instead a complete failure. The twin who remained a boy but experienced sexual abuse by a medical person died of an opiate overdose, prior in life to David dying by suicide.

Empathy exercise - what else this story provides is a way to understand what it might feel like for a true gender dysphoria child if they are born into a family that is rigid about pink dresses for all girls and trucks only being allowed for boys.

Little not-Brenda liked to play rough and be physical, not delicately playing with dolls.

Social molding is part of life but it can be taken too far.

I was a child who liked to dig in the dirt and climb trees and play with dolls and building block construction sets.

I was interested in androgyny as a teen because I did feel different from my peers and I raised my kids with a variety of toys to see what they were interested in. The boy vroom-vroomed the foam blocks like cars and the girl made foam block housing for animal families. 🤔 There were clear differences matching standard gender expectations.

What if my parents hadn't let me play in the dirt or climb trees? Would I be better off or worse? Who knows, but I prefer freedom.

Gender behavior is seen in animals. It is not just a social construct of Lady training. Good manners are good for everyone.
