Cold weather gear, propane, camp stoves, and delayed shipments of basic supplies is needed - or more volunteers with off-road ATVs that can help distribute to rural areas.

A witness/survivor has made a desperate appeal for more volunteers who are used to rugged terrain - there are many rural areas with people that need to be found before time runs out. Road access is not available for many places and a lot of rural people lived off-grid on purpose. The government is not doing any huge rescue work, FEMA or other government presence seems to be centered in Ashville metro area or other urban areas. *Sheriff’s have power to kick FEMA out if they choose to use it.

Private helicopters would be a blessing, otherwise anyone with hiking, backpacking, dirt bike, or ATV or other four-wheelers, this is a call to action. Please ignore whatever the news might be saying and go help. The people there do want help - likely bring your own supplies - don’t be a burden. Warm winter gear and tents, propane tanks and campstoves, and camp lights or headlamps are needed.

Horses, and alao pack mules, and pack goats, have been used by people familiar with trails and rough terrain to reach the isolated areas.

Christy Thrift, a survivor witness at Redhill, North Carolina, says National Guard told her 100 possible body locations are marked along just six miles of river. Smell is obvious, but the sand is covering a lot, or bodies are caught in trees. Water rose deeper in some places than others as it overflowed the mountain river. There already is a quartz mine there, (Mitchell County, Brave AI summary of the mines there), which produces the silica that Silicon Valley needs for all of our tech devices. This disaster wrecked access to the mine that is already there. The area is so sandy because of the mine - it is the mine waste making soft banks that washed away easily and are crumbly with shiny bits of mica.

Donations are needed, but, space is limited on location. Monetary donations allows purchasing what is needed. Distribution to the people farther out needs more help from off road ATV owner volunteers. Cold weather gear, propane and propane camp stoves are the type of things that are needed now, and please don’t get frustrated to hear about supplies being turned away - there is very little space to store much, and looting has been occurring. Diabetic or other special diet food is needed too, they got sent Jello as an example of what isn’t diabetic food. Tough situation. She mentions bringing insulin to someone. Please prepare to send supplies in waves, and hold onto it for now, or give to other locations, or give money.

First-hand accounts are sharing stories of devastation and no rescue work by government in the rural areas. Defensive posts by Harris supporters seem to be localized in the metro Asheville area - that area is getting Federal attention. Rural people who may still be stuck in the mountains in need of rescue are not being helped by any government search and rescue mission.

“Today we convoyed to Pensacola NC. The route had just been partially cleared from the North. We loaded up 10 vics with generators, filters, charcoal, and all the blankets we could fit. Our large convoy took all hour to make the trip over the must treacherous roads I've seen yet.

We finally arrived safely at the fire station. We were informed by a female “logistics officer” that they were not accepting any more donations until Monday, and to take our supplies back.

Some locals who were distributing supplies from that fire station told us that FEMA had taken over and was doing an inventory. They also told us that they were only distributing animal feed and hygiene items like toilet paper.

We did our best to distribute our load anyway. We sent ATVs into the hills knock on doors. I put a carboard sign on my truck advertising what we had to passers by, and managed to offload some of it. In the end, we were forced to return with 70% of what we came with.

I reported the incident to the church leadership and they were stunned. The pastor's wife told me that something similar happened today at the Mitchell High School, where American Red Cross workers arrived, kicked out all the volunteers and took the supplies to "inventory" them.

FEMA and Red Cross have been taking over and shutting down distribution centers, claiming to be inventorying the supplies. Church donation supplies seem to be off-limits for the FEMA seizures per a number of different posts about this issue.
