Academia is controlled media through funding sources. Pharma has the bucks; & what makes a whistle-blower?
Possibly genetics promoting leadership in a time of need, per Gotzsche.
Whistle-blower video on Twitter- Dr Peter Rost, a former Pfizer Vice President, explains how the researchers who cooperate get funded and other money for speaker events or an education series that says the desired pharma message.
Other messages and researchers don't get funded don't get funded as there are few non'- Pharma supporting grant programs. Universities need the extra grant money too..
Power of the pursestrings.
Another - Why do whistle-blowers risk so much? It might be genetics involved making them more willing to risk severe consequences when it is needed - as the statistics included show do happen to most. Tweet with a video clip of a presentation by Gotzsche.
Over 90% of whistle-blowers reporting fraud in health care lost their jobs and can face other severe consequences too: physical or mental illness, alcohol abuse, divorce, losing a medical license may be a risk. A spouse may not have the same drive for advocacy or willingness for risk.
But only 16% when asked if they would do it again said they would not blow the whistle.
It may be leadership traits - stepping up when a need is seen.
The pushback is huge and coordinated, coming from many directions and geared towards inflicting psychological damage - make the whistle-blowers seem crazy in response to being called crazy and no one will listen to the crazy whistle-blower. The harassment can be subtle and targeted so the victim is experiencing it but it is hard to get other people to see it = crazy imaginary paranoia , watch out for psych drugs being pushed by “concerned” family members.
Ignoring most of it is the best bet. Respond with facts politely when facts are being presented instead of pure heckling.
Aside, 51'F is not indoor temperatures for coddled modern comfort. Snowpants, winter hat and coat is leaving my hands cold and my winter boots are not insulated enough. Things are okay though. I got a mini generator going and one space heater in the room with my parents. Monday maybe for power to return. Over 2000 lines down, 200,000 people affected.
“Yes, we're losing the argument. He's using facts we can't dispute.”
