A Walk on The Far Side; and Writer's panic -> saved a copy -> relief
...and a good magnesium article by Doorless Carp.
Cartoon weekend get-away - a Quora thread on the the question “Which Gary Larson Far Side cartoon did you not understand? (quora.com/Which-Gary-Larson-Far-Side-comic-do-you-not-understand)
I was trying to find the cartoonist for this cartoon - I can’t read the fine print:
I had set aside my Hangry and Hanxious project while looking into “No Virus?” and went to add something to my document last night. I added it (a reference and low magnesium diet example from a great post by Doorless Carp about magnesium! Substack), and half asleep, noted that something looked way, very wrong about my document headings in the Navigation panel of Word. What had happened to my document, or to my memory of it?
I had added a new section from another document and somehow must have deleted what turned out to be 4582 words. Yes, my titles looked wrong. Half asleep me: “Did I really start at Section Four? That doesn’t make sense….” I went to bed with an unsettled feeling but let it go. I relooked this morning, yes, half my document seems to e missing. Hmmm. Then I remembered that I had shared a copy so had a download from a couple weeks ago. What a relief, yes, 4582 words was about half of it.
Word probably has a way to look at previous versions but I don’t know how to use the Word software well.
This diet example was used in a study (Nielsen, et al., 2007) as the “magnesium deficient diet” - it would likely lead to a variety of chronic symptoms including insulin resistance and heart disease - and yet it isn’t obviously an unbalanced diet - it has some veggies - but not many and it has refined grains and juice more than whole fruit:
The example diet looks varied but it has refined grains – white bread or rice and not many vegetables. Minestrone soup might have beans but not a generous amount. The sweet desserts and beverages would add to a blood sugar rush that might be followed by a crash later on.
